200R4 Transmission With Electronic Lockup Converter

Selling the 200R4 trans and 1800-2000 RPM stall electronic converter that's currently in my 1972 Malibu so you can go for a ride and verify operation. 

I'll be pulling it in the next 2-3 weeks to swap out for a 5 Speed TKX.

I believe this was from a 1985 Monte Carlo SS if I remember right (Have had too many 200R4's I guess...LOL) so it has the SBC bell housing bolt pattern (Not sure but I think it's BOP also).  I have put 5-6 thousand miles on it behind the 375 HP/400 Tq Small Block with no issues.

The electronic converter has a manual switch hooked up that drops RPM by another 150-200 RPM on the freeway.  With 3.42 gears at 70 mph and 26" tall tires the RPM is ~1800-1900.

I have a Bowtie Overdrives TV cable Made EZ kit for either Holley or Edelbrock that will go with it depending on which carb you need it for.

Listing on FB Marketplace today for $1350 but will take $1200 from NCC members.

About a month ago I looked at a local '66 Malibu convertible (very cobbled up mess of a car with shiny paint) and was thinking a 200-4R would be a good trans for it (if it had followed me home)

 

It's probably best that it didn't come home with me, but the idea was to put together a cheap reliable low-performance convertible that looks good enough to use as a rental. Hagerty has classic car rental program, and I think there might be a market here renting for weddings and weekend rentals for people doing long stays at Mayo. Needs to be a car with an automatic, not a lot of power, and something I'm not attached to in case someone does something stupid, so all of my current fleet is out... need to get into something cheap, desirable enough that people will pay to drive it, and have enough resale value that if the idea doesn't work I can sell and not lose anything... might be a dumb idea, but I've been thinking about it for a while.

Have you looked into the insurance coverage needed for that sort of thing ?

I would want a large blanket umbrella for piece of mind.
