1968 Impala Custom For Sale
Permalink

I have an elderly friend in southern Arizona that has a car for sale so I thought I would throw it out here to see if there is any interest. I will provide as much information as I have right now that I learned from the owner and decoding the VIN and cowl tag.

1968 Impala Custom Coupe (16447), built in January 1968 in Flint Michigan and sold through a dealer in Chicago to a single woman. Shortly after purchase she moved to Arizona and registered it there in July 1968 with 3,021 miles on the odometer. It lived it's life in the Phoenix area. My friend who lives south of Tucson bought the car around 2013. It is Seafrost Green in color with a black vinyl top and a cloth gray and green interior. The engine is a 327 with a Rochester 4 barrel with single exhaust. It is either a 250HP L73 or a 275HP L30. It has either a TH350 or TH400 transmission I have not verified which. If it is a TH350 it is a COPO engine code 9665. The car is all original. The interior has had seat covers for many years but there is  wear on the front seat. The trunk lid was damaged and has been repainted in modern color/clear coat as shown in the photos. There is a scratch on the drivers side from hitting a mail box. It  is a running vehicle but I can't guarantee how far it could/should be driven at this point. I have seen the car and actually did some carb work on the car several years ago. For not having any restoration done on it the vehicle is in amazing shape for it's age. Not perfect but nice. The rocker panels seem solid. The trunk floor has some rust along the wheel wells but nothing too extensive. I have not lifter the carpet to verify the floor condition. The current odometer is 56,547 miles. The owner has a good title in his name.

The owner is selling the car due to age/health reasons. He is asking $8,000 for the car. If someone is interested let me know and I can find out further information if needed.

If not interest I would be like to know your thoughts regarding resale value in Minnesota and if the owner is in the dollar ball park for what he is asking. I am just trying to help an elderly friend dispose of the last of his collection which several years ago included 8 cars from 1930 through 1952.

how long is that garage???

I think that's a real fair price. Seems that now anything that's shiny, complete, and runs gets at least that much.

The stall it is in right now is a triple long RV height.  I think he has had up to nine cars in his garage, the RV stall is just on one end.

Jon showed me the pics Friday at No St Paul and that was my feeling too. Only unknown is desirability and re-sale for a full size in this area. If it were a Chevelle for that price, I would be in Tucson this morning, loading it up...thumbsup

I paid $6000.00 for my recent post purchase summer of 2017.
Complete, 307, three on the tree, tinted glass, dual exhaust.
Cheapo, faded paint, with primer spots.
Very solid, dry, and REALLY nice 1/4 panels.
Parked it and have done nothing with it since.
Would pay that again.

The price is fair for a user.
For a back row, bottom feeder that is just going to let it sit I would guess the number would have to come down.
Agree on Mitch's Chevelle comment equipped the same, rare options, solid shell, add 50 to 75%
I would be on a plane and try to drive it backnana
