I thought about this for a long time last night, but at only 360 hp, it seems like a very low performance, maybe even, a truck engine. I can have my 396 built into more hp/torque than that for less cost. I'm being frugal...cool

That's a lot of torque though Mitch at 470 ft. lbs...  stirpot

I'm not in the market, but it's a good deal if it's a 427 block. I agree with Mitch though, I'd want at least 500hp from a Big Block.

It is and for someone who doesn't have a big block sitting around, it's a fair deal.

I have a '69 396 in my '70 that with today's cam profiles, could make at least 425 hp 550lbs torque and it would cost about the same as that engine.

I'm thinking that 427 is a 2 bolt main and maybe an RV type cam for the low hp but high torque. I probably wouldn't be happy with a smooth idle and it would just cost hundreds more to make it go rump, rump at idle...banghead
