OK, so we're at the end of December and even though we haven't really had much of a winter yet, I know some people are already elbow deep into their projects. There's a few good threads already started about some projects too, so let's get some updates.
I'll start:
My rear disc brake conversion is done. I got stuff off an S-10. I'm aware there are kits available, but I'm a little mentally challenged and wanted to use GM and make it work. I did go with a new master/booster setup from Right Stuff, but the pieces are OEM equivalent. I added a Wilwood rear adjustable prop valve to help balance everything out. I learned to bend brake lines, and learned that fittings aren't ever tight enough and will need to do some frame re-painting in the spring from drippage. It was a good learning experience, I haven't really tested the brakes yet to see any improvement or not, just a once around the block before the ice started.
Once I get it all sorted out, I'll be writing it up for the newsletter
The rotors aren't huge, just normal sized. I didn't measure. They should fit fine over a stock axle, I had to clearance my aftermarket axle ends down a little, but it was easy. You need some spacers to bring the caliper into alignment too, plus swapping out the master cylinder and proportioning valve.
