Heater box rebuild.. foam?

I took the heater box apart on the DisAstre and the foam padding on the air doors had completely disintegrated...  Any Idea where to get new stuff? It is just closed cell foam... right?

Tony, when I rebuilt the AC box on my El Camino I used foam weather stripping with the self-adhesive peel off tape from Home Depot. It has held up well for over five years.

Just wondering if anyone has gone that far in their rebuilds.. That foam on the heater box doors seems to disintegrate after about 15 years..

For as much as I see ever needing a heater in my "summer" cars, I've never replaced the foam. Just slide the lever slowly and it doesn't clank...thumbsup

I never got as far as the door foam itself, just the outer box seals.

I completely rebuilt the box in my 64. Got a kit from Original Parts Group. All the foam was die-cut and went together perfectly. I did it so long ago, that I don't remember how the pieces attached to the doors. Most of the pieces were sandwiched between two parts but the other stuff I think I used weatherstrip adhesive or RTV.
