I'm trying to get this ready to sell this fall and have been hitting it rather hard the past 2 weeks. I needed to finish welding in the trunk floor and wheel wells, so had to pull it off the frame again.

After a few hours of welding and grinding I got bored and brought the engine down off the shelf. I bought a Saginaw 4 speed cheap and decided to get the car to a self moving level, instead of a roller.

I had a flywheel and bell housing but realized I didn't have a pressure plate, disc, throw out bearing or fork. OK my cheap transmission just got more expensive...rolleyes

Got past that issue and dropped the assembly in the frame.

Proceeded to install the headers that have been hanging as art for 4 years. I then bought header mufflers so it wouldn't be as loud when running. Oh joy, the left muffler is tight against the crossmember. The collector was welded on crooked, so I cut it open, pushed the muffler down and welded the gap shut.

A little Silver header paint and it's all good.

Page 2...

I had installed the disc brake conversion for this on the '66 Chevelle, so I had no master or distribution block. Off to the internet and Dashboards favorite place, Right Stuff for parts.

I also installed all new steel brake lines and flex hoses. My CHEAP transmission is getting really expensive. Oh well, it needed brakes anyway.

Then I test fit the original driveshaft and it was too long, so I got out the chop saw and CUT IT !! Not spending more money for a driveshaft just so I can sell the car...clonk

It fits now...

I had saved the old fuel tank too but after checking it over, it was junk, so I went to Auto City and bought a NEW friggin' tank, sender and mounting kit...dang, I'm going broke...banghead

You can see the tank in the pic above and the OLD rusty fuel lines that I had cut out a few rust spots on a while ago. Back to Right Stuff for new fuel lines too. Gotta make it ALL pretty to get a good price.

The chassis is pretty much as far along as it can get until the body is back on so it was back to grinding welds. I found a weak spot in the right rocker that I missed repairing, so I cut it out and fixed that.

Moved on to the bucket seat mounts. I had welded in the left side a few years ago but had used the outside bolt and the seat was offset from the steering wheel. I cut the mounts off and started over.

Once I had the mounts in correctly, I grabbed the shifter hump and outlined that to cut the shifter hole.

30 seconds with the plasma and we have a hole.

 It's actually Gulf Turquoise. There is blue on it and silver, and ... a few other colors as well.

Options were 4 speed with BENCH seat, 3.55 posi rear, tach gauge option and reverb radio.

Hard to believe but I DROVE the GTO today !!!!

I got it all together and drove it around the 1 mile "block" of the neighborhood. Engine could use a tuneup but the trans is smooth and quiet, the clutch engages smoothly and the brakes work good. I knew the rear axle was good, as it came in my '66 Chevelle and I had driven that with it.

Put an ad on craigslist and will take it to the fairgrounds on Sunday.

I wanted to go walk around this morning, but felt it was better to sleep in a little bit when I could.

I was going to offer up the '70 to pacify the wife but she has taken the additional '66 in stride, so the 70 stays for now...thumbsup

The Corsa may be expendable...dunno
