Had a conference call with the VP of Quickfuel and the director at Summit Racing. I packed up the kit and shipped it back. Quickfuel gave me an RMA for it. Shattered starter, (2) ECU computer brains, failed gauges, functions that didn't work, directions that had so many gaps......I think Quickfuel is a great company and they know their carbs. But they failed big time on their rush to EFI. Their poor staff was never really trained on EFI. They never hired anyone to support it. All their docs for the initial settings were wrong. Their fuel maps for my cam profile were dead wrong. They just have some growing pains and learning. But what an epic fail. Cost me lots of time and money. I learned a lot though. I called and talked to Holley and Edelbrock extensively and asked a lot of questions. We went over my cam profiles and engine setup. Decided on going with the EdelbrocK for my exchange. All the wires and hoses etc are already run and labeled, so once I get the new kit I imagine 1 hour for install.
Yesterday i I spent the afternoon on the phone with the tech guy programming the VE tables to get my air fuel inline. We kind of got it close. Then I said, wait a minute, this is at idle. Everything will change under load....he agreed. I gave up. I sent my title to my dad in Washington State to hold, because I was so frustrated at the whole thing, it almost went on Ebay with the carb set back up. I told my dad, you have my title, so if I get to that point, and I call you for it, you can talk me off the ledge. I should have listened to my gut and gone with one of the EFI systems like Holley, Edelbrock, MSD, or FAST. Those companies have their bugs worked out since they have been on the market for years now. And I was one of the first to install the Quickfuel. I was always cool with a Quickfuel. They are a good company, and I wanted them to fix it for other guys and I gave a lot of input where they failed on the directions, and their technology. Plus they outsourced the entire development and RnD.
But I never gave up. I fought it to the end. I love this hobby. I hate this hobby.
Sorry to hear you had trouble Tom. Hopefully the Edelbrock system will work better for you. EFI can be a pain to get set-up correctly, but I think you're going to really like it when you're done.
