Looks like a good deal to me, just need to find a 2wd transmission to go with it.

Chris, what transmissions bolt up to the LS engines ??

Does anyone know if this needs an electronic throttle pedal or if it's mechanical linkage?

It isn't a steal, but decent price even for just parts. This is an 01' so it will be a iron block and iron head setup, not the iron block and aluminum head setup. Also being an 01', it will be drive by cable and not drive by wire.

 Yup. They didnt start with the drive by wire setup until 2003.

 Really I don't think I have ever seen a 5.3 with iron heads on it?? You could not pay me enough to put a drive by wire system in my vehicle, just don't feel the need to be in limp mode.

You can bolt anything you want to it, 350,400, 4l60,4l60e, 4l80e. For stan's car I would go 4l60e and let the computer control things.  There is one bolt hole that does not get used using the older trannys I beleive.

 Totally agree with you Chris. Plus they have this wierd feel in the pedal IMO and that half second lag when you push the pedal down and the engine reacts. I never really cared for the feel of the drive by wire. Its nice there are options when your customizing a classic car with modern stuff. Its almost as if another part of control of the car is taken away from you in a way.

When it comes to buying a current model car for a daily driver though, I dont think there is a single car left on the road that has a cable. There might be a few models left but drive by wire has taken over everything in todays cars.

Here is a potential 4L60E transmission out of a 06 GTO that might work. Price seems a bit high but then again, claims it only has 7k miles on it. So you would be into both the engine and trans for 1,200.

Got a call in to the Suburban for the grille. I can look at the doors for Tony if I go down there.

I went and looked at this Suburban...

6.0L with transmission also available. Might even be able to hear it run if the truck is still together.

It is all still together but is a 4X4 and the trans won't work for Stan. Some of the doors would be decent for Tony's IF his is a new style.

 Thanks for the offer.. But my Suburban is the older body style... so I would need doors of of a Pre -LS engined 94 - 99

Mitch, the guy "Nick" in Newport with the Suburban parts ? He always has GM truck, truck parts for sale and I think he makes a living parting out truck parts. I have dealt with him before and is a very nice guy. He is a Chevelle guy to boot he is putting together a 72 Chevelle. He bought my 12bolt and I got a Vortec core engine off him. He may be one to ask to keep an eye out for LS stuff or parts you guys need. I believe he is putting in an a 6.0L LS in his 72 Chevelle.

 This one is the most tempting... (it's 53K miles, not 35K), but I'm not going to pull the trigger on an LS combo unless it was a screaming deal I couldn't pass up.  Body work & paint is # 1 on my list, and I'll just pull the 350/TH350 this winter for some clean up then stick it back in since it runs so darn good for now.  The LS stuff will come next, so maybe that will make me hang onto this one a little longer.  Lol (Laughing icon page isn't working for me...)

 Technically, Stan could use the transmission and swap to the short tailshaft and housing. But in the end, its too much of a hassle to make it worth it in a car. However, I know a few guys that just used a shorter driveshaft and had no ill problems. Still a hassle. For those that may not be aware, the old body style trucks like Tonys Suburban are the pre 99 style. Just like Pushrods black GMC and my blue 97 Tahoe. None of the later body style body parts fit, but there are a few mechanical parts that still work.
