Rebuilt 702 heads dated I 9 5?

I must have miss typed, yes it would be a 66 Corvette or other chevy , built in the fall of 65. I have a good idea of the value of heads that would need to be rebuilt.  But  not a very good idea of the machine work.  I know it used; but  it looks to be legit as regard to the 500 miles.  Supposedly the  guy had them on a 454 and could not get it to run very well.  Pulled them and went to a different set of aluminum head that gave him a lower CR (He said he was up to just over 12 with these on the 454.  Still had issues.  Finally it was determined the MSD ignition box was bad.

These would have been  used on the 66 corvette 427/390HP built sometime late september to maybe late December.

The 66 corvette 427/425HP used head 3773858, the same head was used on the 66 chevelle 396/375HP.  This is the square port head as opposed to the oval port and had larger valves and someother interal differences.  A matched set of these would be about 5 times the value of the 702 heads.

Is there a way to determine if the new valves are SS or are they all SS?  Thanks.

Well I bought a set of heads that were listed  as L 9 5.  Didn't need them; but they were the right date and casting for my Dec 65 car. I was on a trip in Southern WI to look at a car and they were  about 30 miles away from the car, so I thought I would stop and look at them.   Didn't buy the car; but bought the heads.

I thought I looked them over pretty good and everything looks good, so I bought them.  Owner claimed that he spent $975 on matching, part, etc. Claimed they had only about 500 miles on them.   New springs, keepers, locks, hardened exhaust seat, valves, 3 angle valve job, valve guides, etc.  Standard non-SS  valves for a 66 207 head. He is suppose to go to his machine shop and mail me a copy of the work invoice.

Well I took them out of the car this morning and low and behold, both dated I 9 5, Sept 9, 1965.  How could I have missed that.   A little far out.

What would these be worth?  Just a pair of these dated heads that need to be completely rebuilt seem to go for about $400 for a same dated set.

These heads came on the 65 corvette and pass cars 427 and 396 as well as the 396 chevelle and Chevy II.

Thats what I thought, I thought they only made SS valves.  Why would anyone put in non-SS valves when SS isn't that expensive?

Hey Jim I would ask on a Corevette Forum specific to C2. They would know what they are worth. I DO NOT think they are correct for a 396 65 Vette given the date codes. I would think with the date codes given they would be for a '66 Vette or '66 BBC NOT a '65. Would they be for a '66 427 425 HP Vette ? GM would have doen change over by Sept ? I am just going off what I grew up with change over was in July.
