 Yep, drove down on Monday,  Need a lot of work.  He said he was firm on the price; but I sent him an offer today.  I guess we will go from there.

On another note I thought I had found a good set of 702 heads that were dated Dec 9, 65 for a reasonable price, so I bough them as a spare set.

When I picked them up they looked great and  I saw the 9 5 and didn't get a good look at the month code.  Took them out yesterday morning and low an behold, they were I 9 5.  Ad said L 9 5.  The guy seem pretty honest, I think it was just a type error in the ad.  So there are for sale.

They were  rebuilt with new , valve, seats, guides, spring, retainers, locks, push rod guides, and studs.

So I am wondering about the best way to store these in case they don't sell shortly.  Thinking I should remove the valves and spring and store them in separate boxes coded to the appropriate cylinder.  What do you think?

I’d clean them up spray them with a preservative wrap them in plastic and put them in a sealed wooden box with some desiccant and put them on the shelf. Call an engine shop you trust and ask them about the springs.

Assembled engines sit for many years with some of the valves open from the cam and they fire right up and have no issues with springs. I wouldn't blink to let them sit for at least five years in a preserved state.

You never have said what you want for them...headscratch

They were advertised as L 9 5, matched pair.  My car is a late Dec of 65 car.  Couldn't resist and I was in the area, so I could look at them with no gas cost.  I have $550 in them so if you know someone?  I do have a early Nov 65 961 block and Oct 65 holley intake, a fresh forged crank and a set of 7/16 rods if you know of some interested  in buying for a  Late Nov or early Dec of 65 car.  That kind of far out; but I took another engine apart a few years ago, August heads, September intake, and October block.

Unless its severely rusted underneath, in which case you would typically notice a clear sag which is common for 66/67. It looks like its worth the 12K they are asking.

 It  was for sale last year, no sale.  Not sold yet. Advertized as 327 original engine.   Actually has a 283.  Someone should have bought it by now.  You should have seen the the ocean of waves when looking down the sides.
