Anyone replaced a 69 to 72 convertiable top recently?

Hello to all you chevelle owners, this is my first post

I have been looking at replacing my top, or as i like to cal it a "not too bad umbrella".

Here is a shot of the day I got it, it has been left it down most of the time since then.71chevelle.jpg

At this point the plan is to take it to RCI Upholstery in Belle Plaine, have you used him or known someone who has?

Anyone here tried to do one your self? i did one years a go on  Fiat 124 spyder that went well but these seem a bit more involved.

Hi there, welcome to the club and congrats on your first post on the forum!  Hopefully there are many more!  beers

I think this is Bruce that I sold the gas tank to?

One of our members recently had the top on his '69 replaced a week or so ago.  He is JonH on the forum.  Here's the link to when he posted about it and the comment he made:

http://northstarchevelles.activeboard.com/t48947940/got-the-car-back-today/

"I went with the glass rear window. Premier in Rogers did the work. Very please so far."

You might send Jon a Private Message if you want more info on the top replacement.

Stan

 Hi Stan,

Yep, same Bruce, it just took a while to process the paperwork, I sent it the next day.

I am planning to go with glass window too and assume it was an option back then?

Thats a long way to go to get a top replaced but its worth the drive. Otherwise, if some of the southern guys like Scott P sees this. He may be able to give you some direction, he is right in that neighborhood.

I also recently had a top put on my 1969 Convert, I used CTI by Fred, he is located in Coon Rapids.  If you ever make it to Anoka on Saturdays, he usually has a booth set up as well.  I have been very pleased with his work as well.

I hope to make several of the events, this sounds like a great group.

Hopefully my "waiting to join the CAC" driver will fit in okay.

What is the deal on the one you are hosting this month? How early do people need to RSVP, etc?

Bruce, no need to RSVP.  We usually plan for 20-25 people as that's the usual turnout.

You should have received an email from the 'Webmaster' with the directions to the meeting location address and details.  Let us know if you didn't receive the email.

See you there!

Stan
