My current tire combo is 235/60-15 front and 255/70-15 rear. These are BF Goodrich Radial TA's. The front tires are not the best so I need to replace them. While doing this I would also like to raise the front end up a tad for clearance.
I have the wheel/tire database from Team Chevelle and it seems nobody is running my combo, strange. Not a big deal because it works for me. However, I am considering going with a 235/70-15 in the front which will get me about an inch more height. 235/60 is actually a real popular size but I may even consider a 225/70 just to make sure I don't rub the inner wheel well.
Anybody have a pair of 235/70 or 225/70 tires on 7" wheels I can borrow to check for fit? Or, anybody have any known issues with these sizes? Do you have a pair of BFG for sale in my size???
When I bought my car in 2004 it had BFG TA's P225 75 r14 on 6 inch rims. No apparent problems. Sold to Karl. These were 14" rims. But this was on a 66.
I am really just trying to get ideas from you guys on which size to use. The 235/70 is 1.85" taller than the 235/60 but of course the same width, the 225/70 is 1.3" taller and -0.39" width so I guess I should crawl in to my wheel well and start measuring!?! I did find that tirerack.com has a great price on this tire compared to the local guys.
I have 215/70/15 BFG TA's on my 5 spoke 15 X 7 rims in the front, and no issues whatsoever. Not quite as tall as a 235, but should help you make a judgement.
Did you mean you have 255/60/15's on the rear, not 255/70/15's? Otherwise, you have a great setup for a ricer... bigs on front and littles in the back!

Good info, thanks Stan. The 255/70 is almost 3" taller than the 235/60 that I have now. If I go with a 235/70 there is only a 1.11" difference or the 225/70 is 1.66".
