Alignment specs???
(Preview)
I realized I really haven't had an alignment done on the Chevelle since I put the new wheels and tires on it, which has been 2 years now. Looking for what to do for specs. It's going to be done at Andover Wheel and Frame on my end of town. I had the alignment done many moons ago when I rebuilt the front suspens...

Putting my Chevelle back together
(Preview)
I just passed the one year anniversary of my car being stolen and burned as many of you know. Due to many other setbacks including prostate cancer I am just getting started on trying to put her back together. I have found a few parts already but also looking for suggestions for where you might go for these...

10DN Alternator Upgrade
(Preview)
The alternator output seemed low at times on the Chevelle with the A/C and head lights on. Last fall I checked voltages at alt, bat and the regulator, they were low as I suspected with the load from the lights and A/C. Voltage was good without load. So the alt was charging but could not keep up when needed....

New spray booths and paint system
(Preview)
Our existing spray booths were pushing 20 years old. They were state of art when installed. No longer the case. We are converting to Glasrut refinish product, water base base coat. All primers and clear coats are still solvent based. Needed to add special driers for waterborne, and original booths w...

AC Carb Solenoid Project
(Preview)
Even though I have the carb dialed in at idle, the rumpity rumpity cam still doesn't like the AC compressor load at idle, so I bought the Holley AC solenoid bracket, a NAPA solenoid I found that was $65 instead of the $85 from Holley, spliced in the wire into the AC switch, and it works like a charm. After I t...

Hard to find parts
(Preview)
Actually, between Rockauto.com, eBay, Craigslist, Facebook Chevelle sites, Ecklers, OPGI and a number of old car parts sites I am doing pretty good sourcing and installing parts. However... I have not found the exact connectors or wiring from the ac controller through the firewall. I did pick up a...

Why I save old parts...
(Preview)
A quick update on installing the vacuum reservoir to improve the brakes due to only pulling 7" or so of vacuum at idle. I feel pretty ingenious today as I incorporated the existing bracket for the charcoal canister to mount the reservoir. The mechanic in Kansas had removed the canister and bracket wh...

Proper Fender paint 1970-72
(Preview)
Can one of you please confirm this is the proper paint on the engine bay edge? (based on a CL photo) Just the top ~1.5" body color, balance below the semigloss black? Also, what about the under side of the hood, seems like they are 50/50 with the paint as car and Semi gloss black?

40 Watt Spring Cleanup
(Preview)
This year seemed to be worse than others... a LOT of road-crud, sand, and yuck brought into the garage. With the pending delivery of the Roadster kit, I've got to take advantage of time and weather when I can. Today was "clean the garage floor" day. You gotta love this RaceDeck product. Unzip it into 3 la...

In the middle or trying to remove brake and drum assembly to replace ball joint, need help.

Read the book twice, I must be missing something. I have the tire rod removed and the two joints loose from the steering knuckle. Trying to remove the brake and drum assembly to the side to remove/replace lower ball joint. I can't get the assembly to clear the outside edge of the lower control arm so I...

Did I install aC Delco ball joint boot correctly?
(Preview)
No instructions like the Moog joint that has you seat the boot. Moog says to use a channel lock or socket to drive the boot down. There is about a 3/16” gap between the bottom of the boot and the top of the control arm. Take a look at the photo, I think I should do something similar to Moogs instructions.

Now I can't get the lower joint out, what the best way?
(Preview)
I got a removal kit from a friend, stamped China, well it doesn't seem to have the correct adapters. So I made one and it still doesn't work, the part that slips over the top of the post and is suppose to push the joint out, just starts to widen out. Nothing would fit over the ball joint from the bottom and f...

American Graffiti - '55 Chevy - Falfa's Car (Two Lane Blacktop too)

Here's a link to the whole story about the '55 Chevy used in American Graffiti - This was the easiest to decipher, and without a lot of the nit-picky #1, #2, #3 car stuff... this is the information I'm going with for the model build. I've also gleaned a few dozen still shots from both films for reference. I...
