You don't need 700hp to break a Legend Transmission
(Preview)
I pulled my Legend transmission out of the car right after Christmas due to a strange whining sound in the first 4 gears. As you can see in the pictures, the inner race on one of the countershaft bearings broke into several small pieces. The inner race also has a crack all the way across it. 3 of the pieces h...

Rebuild posi, box rear CA, new bushings, etc
(Preview)
Just started to remove rear housing. Bob is helping with the posi. expecting it to be a long process. I thing Stan is much faster. I think I may have to remove the rear exhaust pipe to get the upper CA‘s out. May just have to cut the muffler exits off then deal with the muffler hangers.

Little something to read during the cold winter
(Preview)
My boss at work has owned a 1956 Nomad since 1969. He raced it at Minnesota Dragway with an Enderle injected 327, m20 and 5.38 rear gears. He tore it down in October of 1971 to get the engine rebuilt and the body restored and painted over the winter. The engine got rebuilt, but the body never got done and was...

Olds Window Project
(Preview)
We learned during our first driving season with the Olds that both the windshield and rear window leak upon washing or getting caught in the rain. They aren't horrible leaks, but they're not acceptable to its owner. Following a tech support phone call with Karl and a trip to purchase a new tool (yes,...

Added to the list of spring projects…..
(Preview)
My wife bought me a Retrosound Hermosa stereo and Pioneer 6x9s for the Chevelle for Christmas. So, added to chasing down and fixing the coolant leak and getting my headlamp that blinks sorted out, I have a stereo/speaker install to do. Why wait until spring? I don’t have a heated garage/shop space...

Project: Dryer thump
(Preview)
My wife messaged me today: dryer started squealing and sounds like it is thumping. had an occasional squeal before. She does a little searching, finds a "top 6 things" video. I come home, we pull it out, figure out how to crack it open, and look at the rollers. They look fine. then I see the belt. It's res...

My 1970 Chevelle it’s just about completed. I am looking for front seat belts a three point type that looks as close as possible to stock. Marriage of a Jeep Grand Cherokee and a 66 PS Gear box
(Preview)
I did this about 12 years ago, and it is still working fine. I replaced the chevelle worm gear from the 66 box; but I don’t remember if I replaced the pitman shaft from the Jeep into the chevelle box. Anyone know if I have to put in the Jeep pitman shaft. Or if all pitman shafts interchangeable?

Machining starter motor nose?
(Preview)
Can this be done? Would like to machine the nose mounting surface from to let’s say 0.100. That’s about what I had to shim only the outer bolt on my starter nose to get the starter teeth to engage the flexplate ring gear. Don’t buy an ATI flexplate.

Engine & 2004R finish rebuilding & getting ready for install
(Preview)
Hi everyone. I thought it better to put any questions and progress in one place. It appears I may have installed the HB about 1/32-1/16 to far in as the crank/water pump looks to be about that much in. Wondering if it is advisable to pull out the HB about 1/32 with a puller. Or maybe wait until engine is in...

Help with TH400 Transmission speedometer gears
(Preview)
Working on the 51 Pontiac Looks like the TH400 may have come from a GMC Truck? Any way is has a electronic pickup for the speedometer, not too compatible with the 1951 speedometer. Looks like with the yellow/white 19 tooth drive a older style speedometer is it really that simple or must the digital driv...

Ok guys... We all know NCC is about Chevelle's (and their derivatives), but an appreciation of all hotrods is a common thread on our board and in our Club. I thought it best to start a new thread to document my roadster build. One thing I've had to do is train myself not to call it a Cobra. That name is owned b...

So... When its time to sell your 59 Wagon??
(Preview)
It has reached the point where it may be time for me to sell the 1959 Nomad after ~14 years and a lot of fun. Would like to sell it "lock, stock and barrel", including spares, a V-6 set up, and some super rare screens for camping. Suppose it depends on the buyer, but have any of you been successful in such a ful...

So, the minor bodywork that my car could use is really bugging me. It’s going to need a driver side lower fender patch panel. So, if I do this, should I just repaint the entire car? As I was starting to clean the engine bay I noticed all 3 bolts of one of the frame mounts had loose bolts. No idea of how long this had been going on (probably years).
