This started out as a simple adjustment, only took an hour. 6 days later I have only to re-install the bumper and parking lights. Decided to remove as must rust as possible and re-condition the light housings. I supose they made a million plus of the light units. They certainly ad a better process that I. Yes it would have been easier to have ordered them from JeGs.

Finished for the time being. Just plan to drive it this way and see if I can get the shift points on the TV cable down a bit. At WOT it shifts at 5000 rpm from L1 to L2, 5000 rpm from L2 to D,I have never made it from D to O at WOT.
With light to medium throttle it shifts from L1 to L2 a28 mph (3100 rpm), from L2 to D at 58 mph (4100 rpm) and from D to O at 80 mph (4100 rpm).
All shifts feel good and firm. From what I’ve read, I should loosen the cable a bit(not too much). If you have and ideas or suggestion don’t hesitate to chime in

The lights look nice and bright.
I don't think you are going to change the shift points with the cable, maybe a little, but the shift points are set in the governor inside the trans. A "little" would be like a 32nd of an inch to me.
Last I heard, it was shifting soft and early, what was done to correct that ?
The soft and early shigts were way back last July when I installed the carb and modified bowtie overdrive EZ TV cable bracket that Bob built for-me. Ihave heard about the governor adjustment process. It would like to have someone experienced with the process help Me with that. I think when I was trying to adjust the modified bracket I didn’t get back in the exact place that Bob had it ( when it had the low shift points). Thinking I can get it in between where I have it now and where Bob first had it Might improved the shift points.
On the second photo there is a bolt that I could loose and rotate the bracket a bit to loosen the cable a bit like 1/32.
