Well, after much shopping and not finding the right car with the amount of money I had I have decided to fix my car. Part of the decision is influenced by the fact that I spent a chuck of change when we bought a house in Crystal but I am OK with that. I am still working on getting parts and will have a few questions along the way but I wanted to start with this post. It is going to be a big job and may take a while but it will certainly add to the "story" around this particular Chevelle. I do have it in a shop in Prior Lake where most of the work will be done by me and my engine builder who is a pretty handy car guy.
The list of parts I am still in need of new or used:
front grill plastic inner fenders 3-core radiator clutch fan ( I am going back to this from dual electric fans, SIMPLIFY!) functional cowl induction hood windshield complete AC dash AC delete box for firewall dash pad, stereo steering column front bench seat (cloth with electronic controls, what will fit?) carpet (is the 4-door carpet a different size since the car is actually 4 inches longer than a 2-door?) insulation under the carpet HEI ignition (high performance but trying to SIMPLIFY here after the whole MSD setup) Holley or QFT 750 or 780 carb inner door panels (I gave mine away that Karl gave me) 265 or 275/70 15" tires 15x8 wheels
Driver quality is all I need and can ship or pickup within the 5 state Midwest area.
I do have alerts set on CL and eBay but if you see something say something.
I have both inner fenders if you would like. The are new plastic, never installed, I decided to go with steel.
I have a original cowl hood from my car, top is in great shape however the under side part of the hood that goes around the air cleaner is cutout. No parts hood only, I used the trim, cowl door etc. on my new hood.
And I also have a right side fender that I replaced, the inner structure is somewhat rotted but the skin is good. I have a windshield from my car that some wiper streaks. I have 2 Monty dashes one has 71-72 gauges.
Sorry to see all the damage, I thought the fire was tn the engine compartment only. It does look fixable however. Good luck on the fix.
I bought new HEI plug wires for my car. I have installed them on my mock-up engine, but have now decided to route them under the plugs, which will require a new set. Since you won't need them soon, I will bring you my "over the top" wires when I unwrap the engine in a few months.
Hey Bob W. I am interested in everything you have but is the dash for sure a 72? A quick read says it has to be a 72 for my 72 or some lights will not work. Shoot me a PM with your number.
Larry - I should be at the Bowtie Brunch in January.

Thanks Chris!
One of the dashes is a 72, the 72s had a seat belt warning light.
