Heater or A/C in 64 Malibu SS
Permalink

I took my 64 Malibu SS with factory A/C apart about 15 years ago and made a little progress before storing it until this summer.  I sold the complete factory air setup, and replaced the firewall with flat sheet metal.  I intended to use Vintage air, but now I am not sure I even want A/C. If I could find a complete original heater assembly, that would probably be my first choice, but that doesn't seem too likely.

Suggestion? Opinions?  Is there a resonably priced generic heater?  Or does anyone have a better idea than Vintage Air?

Thanks

I think Vintage Air or Classic Air offer a heat-only version that is completely hidden and would work with your smooth firewall.

Aftermarket A/C heat is all inside the car, under the dash. Only a manifold mount on the firewall, so they will be great with the smooth surface you have now. You can retain and use the factory outlets on the dash for them also. VA makes a nice conversion lever set-up that uses the original levers to activate electric solenoids too. It gets spendy but looks mostly original.
