I now own another chevelle
Permalink

Well thanks to Karl at Crystal Lake Automotive I own another 66 chevelle 300 post car. I bought it for parts to help the restoration on my other one. Plan is to take the frame from this one I just bought and get that one all cleaned up and done as a roller. Then take the body from my other one and get all the floor and trunk areas repaired and set it on the done frame. Granted none of this will most likely take place this winter but this was the last big piece I wanted for doing the restoration of my car. Was dark last night when I got home so I will take some pictures this weekend and post them.

I was down that way last Tuesday and stopped to say hi to Karl. He mentioned you had been down to look at the cars.

Do you have a source for blasting the frame ?  I used a guy in Harris for a rear axle and he did a decent job for a reasonable price.

Tubular uppers and coil over conversion ....thumbsup

I talked to a guy in Dayton that does that. He uses ground glass and water which eliminates dust. Sets up a moat, catches it all and removes it from the site. It was a little more expensive but would be a clean way to have it done. The water has a rust inhibitor. He has an ad in the Linechaser every month.

My buddy with 55 has a 70 chevelle he is redoing so I am thinking about having a mobil blaster come to my place and blast both our frames and parts at the same time.

An SS hood, looks like 2 decent bumpers and a left quarter panel so far. Do you need the deck lid ?? I have a replacement for mine but it is from a Malibu with all the Chevelle holes in it. I'll trade Ya...tiphat

Are there good parts inside too ?

I will most definitely post pictures once the tear down begins. But I doubt anything is going to happen this winter at the rate things are going for me.

The inside is pretty much gutted other than a dash and steering column. It has a horseshoe shifter laying on the floor but I have not looked at it close to see if it is a chevelle or camaro version.

Mitch I will look at both sets of arms I have and we can work something out on getting you setup with what you need. I don't know that I want to part with any sheetmetal at this point with the exception of the hood I guess. The hood needs some work it has a bunch of little rust holes through it on the top side. I don't know if it is worth trying to fix or not.

 Thanks Chris.

Are the holes in the hood along the front edge ? Very common area to rust out on them. Original hoods can be hard to find, so it may be worth repairing for personal use. Probably cost prohibitive to expect to make money on it after all the work. Shoot me a PM with an estimate of cost. I may have to "stash" it for future use.
