YES I am getting closer to one more car one the road. I got the 92 Camaro back from paint and the guy did a great job for the money he charged. My wife was the first to nit pick some things right off the bat that she saw under the flourescent lights. But for what I got for the money it was above and beyond anything and everything you could expect IMHO. This guy took off everything and then some to get under and behind anything and everything. Mirrors, door locks, weatherstripping, underhood insulation, decklid trim, door panels, all ground effects and realigned doors, hood, decklid, yes that was

That's cool Dave. I really like your attitude on the quality for the money.
I can look at most any car and pick out a flaw or two in a new paint job and I'm no expert. You get what you pay for and if you want the perfect job then you need to pony up the cash. That's why there are $2000 dollar paint jobs and $15000 paint jobs.
Missing clips fasteners and all of these little minor things are really ****ing me off. One step forward 2 steps back on getting this thing done will it never end?
Metro Moulded Parts on Hanson and Hwy 10 has a lot of misc clips and fasteners in their sales floor. Bring a sample if possible since there's often several similar versions. Quite reasonably priced too. I don't think they have an application catalog, but they might. It's all from Au-Vue-Co (spelling?)

Grind continues on reassembly Nose painted, oops missed the detail black painting accents return to painter New Muffler oops forget clamps Ground effects painted missing brackets Brackets obtained, Ground Effects cracks and needs repair Ground effectes installed, new fender a tick off on size causing a paint rub on back of door No bumper brace to be found that is not rusted, cut grind weld sandblast paint Nose installed, pull back off to access other components Tires purchased, YEAH NO PROBLEMS YET!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dad are you done yet? NO STOP ASKING IT WILL BE DONE WHEN IT IS DONE!!!!!!!!!
Well another day of reassembly and this slow tedious process continues. Every part that is to go back on needs so much time just to clean and detail before it can be reinstalled. So the wife came out FINALLY to help and suddenly she found out all of these stupid things that need to be done. Boys were helping and pulled the plastic off the doors so new pieces need to be cut. She decided to install the door panels and decided for the next couple of hours to clean them so they look good. Went to put the exhaust on since the cat back system was shot and I need to get creative to get it in over the axel. Hey where did this vacuum can with a hole and broken pbackets go, found it 1 hour fabbing up brackets and repairing hole and brackets plus cleaning. Just all of this fun crap all week and as soon as I start get called away for everything elsethat also needs to get done. I really was deluted thinking I could get this back together in no time at all.
Had everyone out in the shed today cleaning parts to get this thing together. Ah yes family bonding time when you have HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE AND EVRYONE HELPING. Have any of you scene the National Lampoons Vacation movies? I really do feel like Chevy Chase dealing with these things. Did any of you know my floor jacks lift is about 4" to low to get the exhaust back in? That was after taking things off to get it to drop low enough to get the first bend over the axel. When 2 boys are left to clean the tires and rims after 45 minutes they are soaked fighting and mom goes over to finish the job so dad does not kill them, she wanted to I think. Weatherstrip is on one door with door panel and handle on just missing trim pieces that were being cleaned. Seats are out and cleaned with carpet needing to be shampooed yet.
Noticed the acclerator pedal has hose clamps on the bracket with a chunk of rebar to brace it. That is another trip to get parts from a guy in MPLs who has all of the things I need.
Getting closer to completion, have the new exhaust on started it up to hear the sweet sound of that 170HP 305 and it is quiet that is for sure. New problem discovered when engine was started and let run for a bit to warm up, coolant smell coming from somewhere. Was told it maybe a tube that is near impossible to get at that is leaking. Pulled the dash offand now need to remove all the dash for removal of mouse nest in vents, fan and heater core. So with what is remaining will not make Car Craft in the car.
Door panels and weather strips installed on drivers side. Headlight buckets and screws stripped cleaned and painted. Front nose needs to be realigned again to fenders. More plastic rivets needed for front engine bay covers, Get the 1/4" input jack wired into radio/CD player. This fun never ends it seems.
Most projects of this magnatude turn into that. After the big pieces are done, we just want the whole car finished and it seems to drag on forever....
Like Scott said, you should be getting more "cuddle" time than you can stand...
Yea right cuddle time, everybody is a comedian. I was going to clean the body side moldings buff and make them look good since I have run all of my cash reserves to nothing and I hear about it from her. She paid $50 for a pair of cheap rear shocks and you would think was the biggest expense the car has ever gotten or needed. So now I need to find a set at Car Craft today.
