Traded the '72 Chevelle for a '72 vert Malibu plus a substantial sum of cash back to me (at least it is to me) with a collector car dealer in Iowa City. Dashboard rode with me and we met the dealer half way (about 3 hours), I went over the vert for an hour, and they didn't even bother looking at mine. Just said if it was as good as the pics, no problem.

The vert has a perfect build sheet and it came from Gustman Chevrolet in Kaukauna, WI (east of Green Bay). It was ordered with the buckets, console, tinted glass, 2.73 axle (wow?), power steering, wheel trim covers (hub caps...), an AM radio and the windshield antenna and is Mulsanne Blue

It is a true rust belt car, so some previous floor patching has been done, and it does have 20 year old enamel paint issues, so this is a project car to me. Although, believe it or not, I'm only going to get it mechanically sound, then just drive it this summer and not tear into it while I figure out the 'master plan'.

It has 59K miles, which I'm assuming are 159K, but the interior is all original. It needs carpet, which somebody put down some fuzzy 90's stuff, so that is all I'm going to do now as I investigate what's underneath with the patches.

My plans are to put in a current gen LS engine/4L Trans, likely a body off resto to replace pans, panels, frame detailing, etc. and do it the way I want, but keep it mostly looking stock.

Heck Bryan, I haven't hit up the lower midwest yet! C'mon I've only had 1 '71 and 3 '72's in 10 years. It's a good thing I can only afford 1 at a time!

That was good Jon! Actually... she was more into buying this Chevelle than any of the others, so it was a smile. Must be the vert thing. We went for a quick top down drive tonight before the storms hit, and even with header exhaust leaks, no music, and lots of wind, she liked it!

Looks great, my coworker bought a take out low mileage 5.3, with transmission and it came complete with harness and computer from a junk yard down south for a really good price. Even with shipping it was cheaper then most places around here. I am sure I can get the contact information if you are interested?

Figured you were about due for a change...Nice car Stan! Looks a lot like Larry L.'s car but with buckets (see members ride section of our website). He bought his convert with 17K miles on it and hasn't made many changes (wheels, brakes, tunes). He usually has his at Car Craft but typically only on Friday and he parks with friends and not the club.

Looks great. I found another 66 convert to go look at. But first I have to go fishing for a week and decide if it makes sense to own 2 cars. Rachael is game. But what makes sense when it comes to chevelles.

Nice car Stan, i liked the old one but really like this one.
Hope to see it soon, it looks like it is very similar to my 71, which was originally the same blue paint color as yours but had a white roof.

Thanks Bruce. Yeah, this is a few levels below the old one and has it's faults, but it will get there!

I'll have to look again, but I believe the paint code is 26 Mulsanne Blue? It's the original color to this Malibu.

I'm considering changing the interior to white when I restore it, even though that's not original. If it had the white top, I'd do it for sure. Although, I still think it would good with a black top and white interior!

We are going to do the Farmington Dew Days cruise Friday night if the weather allows (see link on the club calendar on this forum). So, it will be fun to cruise with the top down. I'm sure you know what I mean!

Hey Stan welcome to the world of convertibles! Tim told me you had made the switch! Tim is looking forward to working on another '72 convert, not as much work with no hard top! I love the bucket seats! I have owned Vert 36 years now, maybe you will get the same bug...

IMO the stripes look cool. The blue and white look nice. 67 Imapala SS we have is blue with parchment interior it is kind of off white maybe just age too : ) Would you go with a white top too ?

Since it's so hot outside today, I'm putting thought to what my plans are for the vert this winter.

Saw it's twin with white interior and white stripes driving around at No. St. Paul last Friday, but didn't get a chance to find where it parked. I will be replacing the door panels anyway, and the black seat upholstery is original, but the 2 front seat patterns don't match. The top boot is needing replaced, so would also need to change to a white top.

What do you folks think?

White would be my first choice too and since it has the SS hood, I would consider the stripes too.
