Andy, I've got a set to part with. I think the springs were a little weak for the steel hood, which is why I replaced them. But, maybe they would work if you went with the fiberglass hood?
Let me know if you're interested. They came off the green '72 that I had before.

FYI, they used 2 springs for the chevelles, the regular hood ones for the 70-72 era cars has been discontinued. That was part # 3864680.
The other spring is #3848272, and is correct for 63-65, 66-67 SS models, 70 454, and 71-72 heavy/SS, all early Monte Carlos, and Elcamino with dome hood. Also correct for 67-69 Camaro 350/396 cars. Current price to members is $11.65 each, figure 1-3 days to get depending on which warehouse they come out of.
the SS/HD spring measures 8-25/64" free length the regular spring measures 8-13/32" free length

I have a set of hinges from my old '72 Tim that I could part with. I never had any issues with them supporting my cowl hood. I AM having issues with my cowl hood on my new '72 Chevelle in that the hood likes to close when it is running. So Brian, which springs should I get knowing my setup and current issue?
I would go with the SS/HD spring. I think those hoods are a little heavier from the extra metal and the spring compensates for that. You have a dome style hood right?
