WAY too much money for one that needs everything... I've bought and sold several of them WITH AXLES for around half that price.

Looks like the carrier is also in there. Series 2 if the gears are under 3.07, so not as desirable. Would think new gears, axles, posi unit and install kit would run $900-up. Then the clean up, painting, etc. And maybe the backing plates and pinion flange are no good.

I did buy a spare 66 housing (one year only) in excellent condition, excellent backing plates and parking brake cables, 2 sets of axles, series 3 Eaton posi; but without gears and a rear cover for $850 last year.

CKD axle code is 2.73 open... worth about $300 in that condition if it's 68-72, could be '67 though???

65-67 are worth that much, but the 68+ are not.

Jim, your '66 housing would be the same as a '65 housing (flat spring perches). '67 were one-year only with the later style raised perches and the earlier (narrower) width.

Typical going rate for one of those is 250-300. Minus axles and its even less then that. Going to have to cut more then half the price if he wants to get rid of it in todays market.

They'll still bring $300 no problem... axles aren't a big deal-breaker, as there's about an 80% chance they'll be junk anyway.

Didn't think they used a CDX code in 67.  I thought the 3 letter codes started in 70. Yes the 67 was the first year of the newer style spring perch and was still the narrow rear.  The 66 rear generaly had 2 holes in the flat spring perch and the 65 had just one hole along with different casting numbers for 66 and 65; #3875745N for 66 and3859140N for 65.  As far as I know that is the only difference between the 66 and 65 rear axels assemblys.  Just a bare 65-67 housing are going for $600.  I know of 2 somewhat complete assemblys in MN for sale at around $1000 and both are open 12 bolts.

Here is probably a better deal. I would go through it before buying.
