So my new '72 has stereo speaker holes in the dash (AC car). Thus far I have read they are 3.5" or they could be 4x6 (I don't have access to the car right now). I want to get some decent replacement speakers for these. I don't want to cut up the rear to put 6x9's in this car but I will be putting a decent amp and a dual 8" sub box in the trunk. The build sheet just shows me in box 99 SPKRS F2--- and it has option U63 AM RADIO.
So, what size speakers are they? Has anybody replaced theirs and really like what you put in, if so what did you buy?
I picked up a deal at Walmart last month. Four Pioneer 6 1/2" speakers and a stereo deck with USB and auxilary input for $70. For the price they sound pretty good in the car. I installed two where the rear 6x9's were and installed new back dash carpet. The front two I installed in the pockets where the inside of the door hinge is next to the inside portion of the door jamb switches. No way those were going in the upper corners of the dash.
