Trying to install bumper guards on my 66. Not sure how these are suppose to fit when done. I have tried to install the lower bolt first and then draw them up using the upper attachment hardware. I have not be able to do it with the 7/16"" lower bolt; but was able to get it in place with a lower 3/8" bolt and hoping over time I might be able to get the original lower bolt hole in. Probably the only way I could get the lower bolt in is to set a bottle jack at an angle and push the lower part of the guard in so the holes line up What do you think?
I could possible get the bottom bolt in and drawn the top into place; but it is so tight I am worried about damage to the bumper.
Most of the issues have been with reproduction bumpers.
These guards were made in Taiwan and marketed by Dynacorn. Have heard that the others, like Goodmark, etc may use the same plant in Taiwan or possibly a different manufacture. Hard to tell who makes what these days. All I know is the Asian folks sure like Bill Clinton.
Were they on before? the reason I ask is Dan Williams had his rechromed and his bumper redone previously by Keystone. The guards would not fit so taking a set I had they used them as a master set having never been redone. Then when everything was all said and done the things fit and we had no problems I just had to rechrome a set I didn't need redone at the time.
