Call me crazy but I am now on the hunt for another 4-door Chevelle. My current one needs to be stripped of it's driveline and sent to the bone yard since the accident. You see my login here and other car sites, I am the only 4-door Chevelle at any race track, it is easy to get my grandson in his car seat plus it should be cheaper than a 2-door.

I am putting my 2-door 70 up on a hoist to check the extent of the rust as I may use that car. I just hate to change a thing on a stock original 34k mile Chevelle.

I have done searches on all the Craigslist's around and eBay. I just wanted to put the word out in case anybody know of something. I would like to get it by this fall so I can get started on it.

Thank you!

I've driven by this one.  It sits along the road for sale about 20 miles south of me.  Looks like it's pretty rusty from the pictures, but let me know if you want me to take a look at it.

I did see that one Steve and have it in my pile to follow up on. It does appear to be pretty rusted but is a tad bit better than my Chevelle. Whoa .. it is a ways away from me so if you could take a poke at it some time that would be appreciated. I will also call the guy and let him know what we are up to.

I was thinking that if it's a 4 door the color/top doesn't matter!  biggrin

Sorry Darren, couldn't resist... please don't take offense to my comment as I have love for all Chevelles!  smile

No problem Stan, no offense here. That 69 is actually a 2 door and a bit rich for my blood.

Hello,

I have a 1974 Chevelle Malibu Classic. 4dr. 350 V8. 152K The car is very rusty (patched with tin an bondo) and the cam shaft is worn out. It still runs and I have been driving it daily in the summers. I have owned the car for 21 years. Sadly, it is about time to let it go. I may donate it to the Goodwill this fall. Let me know if you are interested.

Thanks for posting Mike. Darren is who I had in mind when I said to post it here. Not sure if that's what he wants since he's definately interested in drag racing, but it's worth a shot huh?

What's the interior like?

I actually did have a '73 Chevelle the summer of '92. Not a bad car, just not really what I was wanting. I have so many parts for 70 to 72 I am going to try to stick with that. I think I will swing by that '66 though tomorrow just for fun.

I am amazed at the prices people are asking for Chevelles on Team Chevelle. Missing floors, no trunk, less driveline, barn find and they are still asking $3000??? My '70 is complete but also has rust issues but I am going to list it for $3000!

Hello,

The interior is worn out. Dirver's side seat is worn with holes and dash is cracked. The cam shaft is worn so it runs rough. The body is rusty, lots of bondo and tin patches on the rear fenders and trunk and floorboards. Last month I drove it from St. Paul MN to Winona MN with no problems. Yesterday the brakes went out..must be a leak in the lines somewhere. Debating to get it fixed or send it to the Goodwill. Anybody interested in it for parts, let me know. My goal is to try to give it a respectfull end of life. I have owned the car for 21 years....many memories.

OK, I have some money now. I have looked at some real junk already to my surprise. I am going to post an ad on Team Chevelle to widen my search.

$4,000 should get you into a pretty decent 4-door... just be patient. :)

Therein lies the problem doesn't it? $$$ in pocket burn hole in pants. I am looking at a "NO RUST" 72 4-door 6-cylinder/PG for $4999 but something in me says that is too much money???

I believe the PG was gone by 72 but I may be wrong about that. I also believe there were less 6cyl engines in 72 installed then the 307.

You will find something. Its not like there is a lot of competition out there for 4 doors. Whats wrong with the one in Stillwater? It looks like it has everything your looking for.

Hmmm...they dropped the price on the Chevelle I want. Left him a message and e-mail so hoping to go look at it tomorrow night.

Swapping a 350/TH350 in to a straight 6/PG 1972 4-door Chevelle. Other than the gear indicator in the dash being wrong everything else should just fit?

Suspension stuff may be a tick off of the SB car. Things like springs, sway bars, and if it is a manual box good luck with that. Other then that you should be good to go in doing a swap over the winter.

So it is possible the front and rear springs and sway bars are lighter duty? Are you talking about manual steering box Dave? Oh I hope not!

Well, this one does have quite a bit if rust even though the guy doesn't think so. There is a hole in the trunk floor, rust through on the drivers side floor, missing metal in the rear quarters, rust-through in the back doors, lots of bubbles in the paint as well as rust encrusted underneath. The car has a lot of bondo though it doesn't look too bad.

The seats were filthy, headliner has numerous holes, car has not been taken care of and it smelled of cigarette smoke which I hate.

I didn't even drive it. Just told the guy I would see what else is out there and give him a call if I am interested. It even had unilug wheels on it that he eye-balled to get centered on the hub as he did not have centering rings or the correct lug washers.

Someone showed me how to do a Midwest search of all the CL type sites but I can't find it anywhere.
