Maybe I'm becoming a "Stanitizer"
(Preview)
Installed a new fuel line from the pump to the carb, should be a bit more reliable than the PO owners clever contraption of odd parts. Currently not aware of the next thing that needs to replaced (Stanitized), hopefully its all good for now

Broken Gears on PTO
(Preview)
As some of you may of heard, I was recently given an Allis Chalmers WD from my father in law. The thing runs pretty well and does what we will need (mow the pastures, scoop poop and move round bales). I noticed some oil dripping out from the PTO seal when I first got it, and then after running the belly mower (...

Can these rotors be turned?
(Preview)
More odd things, there rotors are different per side. I have no experience with these type of rotors, Does the whole hub and rotor have to be removed together? How difficult to get rotor and hub separated? Is it worthwhile to just replace one caliper and both sets of pads? From looking at the interne...

66 A/C hoses
(Preview)
Thoughts on best source for A/C hoses for 66 ElCamino? these are the clamped, not crimped style. Ron is running out of mechanical things to do on White Elcamino. Some of you are really "clued" in on a/c stuff. Would like to save my parts guy some time trying to chase something down. Thanks in advance, Kar...

3000-ish mile Once-Over
(Preview)
Most of us around here aren't hesitant to tear something down, upgrade/rebuild, and press it back into service. Today was the 3000-ish mile "get under the car and check things" day. I've been chasing an annoying rattle in the Roadster, and today bit the bullet, got it in the air, and started from the no...

Idle too high when slowing down and assorted issues
(Preview)
My car seems want to get the choke or something else stuck much of the time when slowing down. A tap of the gas pedal will drop it back down. Nothing is obviously sticking, the choke opens all the way when warm. I put a little oil on the shafts and seemed to be a bit better. Any suggestions?? -- Edited by BLyke...

Temporarily in CAC

After the QA1 cruise, I put the car up on the lift to look for the source of the PS leak, and discovered the front tires were corded on the inside edge. Investigating why the alignment changed, I found a structural failure beginning on both lower A-arms. After a few calls to SC&C and SPC they sent me a...

Thank You To Hood Pins
(Preview)
On Monday, I took the Chevelle out to get the last of the tranny break-in miles on it. When I was getting close to home, I noticed that the hood was moving more than normal. When I got home, I popped the hood and found that the hood latch pin had come out of the mount in the hood. When I looked at it, it really...

Not sure if this is the proper place for non-automotive "projects", but here it is. I bought the first set of lumber to add more ceiling joists for strength and to modify the first one in for an overhead door. I need to remove the fancy stuff on the wall to add the post.

Three bad lifters
(Preview)
I check the valve train geometry back when I first installed the roller rockers by checking the pattern on the valve stem tip. Since then I found a much more accurate way to get good geometry, "at 1/2 valve lift the rocker should be 90* to the valve stem". I found the intakes could use an additional .250 an...
